Spurs have to play it smart this transfer window to replace star who ‘is a big loss’ – Opinion

|

Tottenham have only played one game since Harry Kane was ruled out for the next two months, yet the signs are already there that this could be a difficult period for Spurs.

Sky Sports’ analysis of the game against Middlesbrough showed that the north London side were heavily reliant on Kane in the final third in previous matches this season under Jose Mourinho and this lack of a no. 9 severely hindered Spurs in their FA Cup clash against the Championship side.

Mourinho also admitted after the game via The Sun that Tottenham will find the next few weeks without Kane challenging, with the Portuguese manager saying: “We have what we have and we stick with them. The boys did what they can, you cannot transform Lucas or Son into a No. 9 like Harry Kane. So, we have to try other things, and that is what we are going to do. Obviously, every minute Harry doesn’t play means a lot to us. It is a big loss for us.”

Will Spurs Replace Kane In The Transfer Window?

We Have To

No Chance

With Troy Parrott the only other recognised centre-forward in the Tottenham first-team as graphs from Transfermarkt show, a new striker could be on the agenda for Spurs this transfer window despite The Guardian reporting that there will be no money to spend this month on new players.

Yet for Spurs, a short-term replacement for Kane could be what they need to ensure they survive this period of the season without too many hiccups, and Mourinho and his transfer committee have to play it smart when looking for a quick-fix striker.

Bringing in an extra attacker on loan might be the best course of action with funds reportedly short for Spurs this window, and with the allure of Champions League and Premier League football on offer, Tottenham could well find the man they need to replace Kane until his welcome return to full fitness.
