Spurs youngster a ‘priority target’ for Sevilla

|

Following the arrival of Arnaut Danjuma earlier this week (more on that here), it now seems that Bryan Gil will be given the green light to leave the club this January.

This has alerted a number of clubs, with the most notable of those being Sevilla. That is according to Fabrizio Romano who has stated the Spanish club sees Gil as their ‘priority’ target before the window slams shut on January 31st.

Sevilla boss Jorge Sampaoli is said to be a fan of the winger, even admitting he tried to sign Gil when he was manager at Marseille.

The 21-year-old of course joined Spurs from Sevilla in the summer of 2021 – a deal which saw Erik Lamela go the other way.

Gil would likely not say no to a move back to his homeland, after struggling to adapt to the physical nature of the Premier League.

Speaking in a press conference today, Spurs assistant coach Cristian Stellini commented on the Gil-Sevilla links (via Football London):

“It’s not a question that I can answer because I’m not involved in these types of decisions. My opinion is the same as three weeks ago so nothing has changed for me.”

It has not been stated whether the move would be a permanent or temporary switch but it would be sad to see the Spaniard leave after impressing in recent weeks. However, with Richarlison and Kulusevski returning from injury aswell as the recent arrival of Danjuma, it would likely mean minutes may be hard to come by for Gil – meaning it may be best for the youngster to leave, to find some more minutes.

Spurs fans, should Gil leave to find more minutes? Have your say by visiting the VitalSpurs fan forum here
