Some good posts here folks, I think many of us are actually saying the same thing, but from different angles or perspectives.
    Here’s my take.
Sell on Lo Ceslo, N’Dombele, get the dosh for Dele and CCV, loan Gil out for another year, review the Young French player (name escapes me) Sarr?
Well on Winks and Emerson or Doh and Dave
    That should provide some dosh.
    Buy in Bente and Kulu
Target a RB( or 2) plus a LCB and centre forward or striker.
With what’s left why not take Bale Ericksen or both, as has been said they can be impact players and indeed they have European experience and both will want to give a good show with the impending WC.
They could fit into Contes plans and indeed both can be game changers, so why not, if our targets are met.

    Morning PY
Trust you and yours are well, re my assertion of earlier, I had forgotten Rodon, Parrott, and Clarke.
I’m sure there are one or two more.
But it seems that many of the players I’ve listed above don’t seem to fit in Contes plan and indeed some didn’t fit the previous couple of managers plans either (see Clarke and CCV) so best to move em on for what we can get, build up a war chest, I think I’ve named at least 9 players, surely there’s a couple of quid there to bring in 6 or 7 well targeted players, to make a decent squad of around 22.

Thanks for that Nial, yes we are doing fine, esp in these iffy lurgy times, Mrs PY has to be so careful being top of the tree when it comes to vulnerability, me likewise, careful that is, for her sakes.
Hope you and yours are keeping safe n well.

You are correct of us having a possible “war chest” and that we hopefully sign Quality players rather than Quantity, its also hopeful the new duo of Paraciti n Conte see this, which they probably do and get us to the next step or rung up the ladder.

It is quite exciting really, we are all on the edge of our seats with hope/dreaming or doom for some lol! COYS

It’ll be interesting to see how things work out in a number of positions.

At keeper, I just can’t see us pick up the option on Gollini, and I don’t see us go out looking for a Lloris replacement. There’s talk of Sam Johnstone on a free transfer, I think he makes a lot of sense both from a HG perspective and as a potential successor to Hugo.

At centre back, I expect us to be in the market for probably 2 players. Sanchez’ Spurs career is a good as finished, and who knows if Conte even rates Rodon and Tanganga. That’s potentially 3 CB’s out, either permanently or on loan.

At wing back, I actually like our options on the left IF Sessegnon can finally stay healthy. But that’s a huge if.

On the right, Doherty is probably a better option right now but Emerson probably has more upside over the next 5 years. I would cash in on Doherty (who will be 31 next year) now and look for a new RWB to improve our 11.

With centre back, central midfield is probably our biggest need. I just can’t see a future for Winks at Spurs, even as a squad player. I’d love to see us go for someone like Renato Sanches who can both attack and defend.

The front 3 picks itself and the main question is depth. We need a second senior striker at the club and it doesn’t seem that Parrott or Scarlett are ready for that role yet.

In the wide positions, Moura and Bergwijn are decent squad players but I feel the club will probably try to cash in on Bergwijn and reinvest the funds in other areas of the squad.

Personally, I don’t see any way back for any of the players who left. Villareal are interested in buying GLC permanently, which has to be good news. We all have to hope Lyon progress in the EL because their president said that they needed the EL prize money if they wanted to afford Tanguy’s option. I don’t really see the point of keeping Gil, who may turn out to be a good player one day but is an awkward fit for Conte’s system. Clarke and CCV have no future at the club.

There is plenty of work remaining to finish reshaping the squad, but there is a core in place, which is promising.

BS…Good interesting post there, quite thoughtful, has me thinking anyway lol! COYS

  • Niall D says:

Hi BS hope all good your end, PY glad to hear you and Mrs PY are keeping well.
BS great post with much the same thoughts as myself on player moves, only with more meat on the bones.
The players I listed (mostly) don’t actually play for us they are on loan or on the bench and not really playing.
I’m in the balance re Doh as he has improved, but his age is against him, but I would keep him, be rid of Emerson, and bring in another RB as first choice.
But I’m with you 100% on the rest good points m8.
