Spurs chief has been beaten at his own game after Rose ‘not going anywhere’ bombshell – Opinion

For the longest time, it looked like, despite how tight he can be, Daniel Levy’s harsh negotiation tactics were good in being able to keep most of Tottenham’s top players at the club.

Yet ever since handing long-term deals to a majority of long-term players, the house of cards Levy has done so well to construct is slowly but surely crumbling before him, and Danny Rose might have just been the player who kicked his tower over.

Will Tottenham be active in the January window?

Yes! We have to be!

No! Daniel Levy won't spend

The England international admitted to The Evening Standard that he will be leaving Tottenham when his current deal with the club expires in the summer of 2021 and that he won’t be going anywhere until his contract expires, joining the likes of Christian Eriksen, Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen who also look set to leave Spurs on free transfers next year.

Although Spurs and Levy have been praised in recent years for being able to compete with the Premier League big guns this decade despite paying their players a considerably smaller average wage than the likes of Manchester City and Chelsea, it is becoming apparent that this tight wage structure is resulting preventing a number of names from actually renewing with the club.

Indeed, this seems to be the case for Rose as well as the other three players, with The Daily Mail reporting that the trio will follow in the left-back’s footsteps and reject any contract offer that comes their way to allow themselves to move on from Spurs.

The next few months will be crucial for the future of Tottenham, and Rose’s bombshell of an interview will seemingly cause a ripple effect across the team that could see nearly four first-team players leave the team for nothing.
