Spurs 2-0 Wolves: Player ratings

|

Spurs bounced back from their disappointing defeat to Leeds United last weekend with a much needed win against Wolves, as Champions League football for next season remains distant and unlikely, yet still a possibility.

Goals either side of half time from Harry Kane and Pierre Emile-Hojbjerg secured the victory for Ryan Mason’s men. Here are our player ratings from the game.

Hugo Lloris – 7

Didn’t have too much to do at all, but his distribution was good and any saves he had to make he made look easy.

Japhet Tanganga – 7

Dealt with everything that came his way well, looked calm and assured. Supported Bale on the right when needed to and headed over from a corner in the second-half.

Toby Alderweireld – 6

Lost Romain Saiss in the second half but fortunately for him the chance amounted to nothing. Other than that, again dealt with everything comfortably.

Eric Dier – 7

Bounced back from his poor display against Leeds last week and looked a lot less like making a mistake. Lucky to keep Joe Rodon out the team but justified the selection with a solid performance.

Sergio Reguilon – 8

Recently been a shaky figure in the defence, but looked a lot more confident and composed in this game. His determination to keep the ball in play and beat Ki-Jana Hoever to it before playing the ball across the six-yard box was instrumental in the second goal as Hojbjerg followed-up Bale’s shot.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg – 9

Grabbed himself a goal and an assist as he ventured forward a lot more today and played some risky but effective passes. Won everything and dominated the midfield. Warrior.

Giovani Lo Celso – 6

Still looks a little shaky after coming back from injury not too long ago, but his movement and work rate is keeping him in the team. He won the ball at the start of the move which saw Kane score the first goal and almost caught out Rui Patricio at the near post from range.

Dele Alli – 8

Thank the lord we get to see Dele back in this Spurs team. Some superb movement, skills and passing was on display against Wolves and he will have definitely given Gareth Southgate plenty to think about as the England manager was in the stands to watch on. Hit the post after following up Kane’s shot which hit the opposite post a second before.

Gareth Bale – 7

Constantly took on his marker and terrorised the Wolves defence with his direct running and skill. Another bright performance from the Welshman who will be disappointed that he didn’t cap it off with a goal. Forced a save from Patricio which was parried right into the path of Hojbjerg who made no mistake on the rebound.

Heung-min Son – 6

A little quiet from the Korean, but he did try to make things happen with his direct dribbling and his ability to cut inside and strike from distance. Forced a save in the first half from Patricio but that was about it. Almost got an assist in the second half when Tanganga headed over his corner.

Harry Kane – 7

Speculation continues to surround Kane and his future, but he continued to do the business on the pitch by scoring another goal which keeps him at the top of the goalscoring charts in the Premier League. Showed great composure to first of all sit Conor Coady on his backside before finishing around Patricio.

SUBS: Harry Winks – 5, Tanguy Ndombele – 6, Moussa Sissoko – N/A

Winks came on to add a bit of energy in the midfield to stop Wolves from getting back into the game, Ndombele came on to create in the centre of midfield and Sissoko didn’t really have enough time to make an impact.
