Spurs Word On The Tweet

“Showed hunger” – Some Spurs fans laud £14.4m-valued unlikely hero who “stepped up”

After Tottenham edged past London rivals West Ham United on Tuesday evening, some Spurs supporters have picked out an unlikely hero among the team following his performance – with defender Serge Aurier earning some plaudits.

Aurier, who has become a somewhat polarising figure, appeared to ‘show hunger‘ against the Hammers – bombing down the right flank and attracting praise from a few Lilywhites on Twitter.

The 27-year-old, as per SofaScore, won 3/5 aerial duels at right-back whilst coming out superior in over half of his battles on the deck – potentially highlighting the notion he impressed against David Moyes’ side.

Did Aurier impress you with his outing?

Yes, played a great 90 minutes

No, Lo Celso and Dier much better

After having a Heung-min Son goal ruled out through VAR, Tottenham eventually managed to take the lead with a Tomas Soucek own goal.

Star striker Harry Kane then went on to seal all three points just under 20 minutes later.

The result takes us to within one point of a potential Europa League qualifying spot, but that wasn’t the main focus from these Spurs fans – here’s how they praised the £14.4 million-valued defender on social media.
