Sevilla defender Kounde could still sign for Spurs WITH Romero

|

Many thought Spurs‘ pursuit of Sevilla defender Jules Kounde was dead and buried, after reports claimed he was not interested in joining the club.

Then, the club’s pursuit of Cristian Romero, led by Managing Director Fabio Paratici, made the transfer even less likely of happening, with spare funds an issue and still not enough deadwood moved on.

However, the deal may be back on, with new knowledge of Kounde’s preference being to join Real Madrid – although he would be open to a move to Spurs should the Spanish giants not be interested in his signature.

And it appears that Madrid won’t pursue the Frenchman this Summer, leaving Spurs completely alone in the race to win his signature – but that happening is tricky should Romero from sign too, and a partnership between those two central defenders is not yet clear if it would be on the cards for Nuno Espirito Santo next season.

A deal could be achieved through another swap deal with Sevilla, with Davinson Sanchez potentially ready to follow in Erik Lamela’s footsteps and be used as a sweetener to help secure Kounde, like the Argentinean forward was for Bryan Gil.

It was widely believed an agreement was already made between Paratici and Sevilla’s Director of Football Monchi, but due to Kounde’s reluctance to move at the time, the move was put on hold as the club pursued other targets.

Now, the door has seemingly been opened again to a transfer, and many Spurs fans are desperate for Paratici to agree deals for both of the exciting young defenders he is in talks with, as they could cement a defensive partnership together for years to come.

One fan said on Twitter: “If we get Kounde, and Romero…..Paratici deserves a statue.”

Meanwhile, another supporter wrote: “If don Paratici gets kounde and romero while we are in the conference league. I will get a shirt with Paratici on the back.”

One thing is for certain if Fabio Paratici pulls off both signings is that he may go down in Spurs history as one of the best appointments the club has ever made.
