Spurs agreed deal with City for Kane Report dismissed as false

|

Last night, just as Spurs fans were getting very excited with the developments in the Cristian Romero transfer saga and the deals for Bryan Gil and Pierluigi Gollini expected to be completed in the coming days, a sensational report from The Sun suggesting a deal for Harry Kane was agreed with Manchester City was published.

Details in the article included that Chairman Daniel Levy had made a complete ‘U-turn’ on his stance with Kane’s future being at Spurs, and he is happy to let him go for £160 million – which City have offered.

Furthermore, personal terms have already been agreed between Pep Guardiola’s team and Kane himself, according to the report.

While the source is obviously a very unreliable one and shouldn’t be trusted, the writer of the article is not even an active sports journalist, but rather a showbiz journalist and immediately the report was ignored by many Spurs fans.

But if you were one of the fans who read the report and still hold worries, today Alasdair Gold insisted that there has not been a ‘U-turn’ from Levy and a deal has certainly not been agreed.

Writing on his Twitter account, Gold reassured fans by saying: “Spurs maintain that they have no intention of selling Harry Kane this summer. Nuno Espirito Santo was also pretty clear about it at his unveiling as Tottenham boss.”

Fabrizio Romano also downplayed any talk of Levy agreeing a deal for Kane to exit the club, saying on his Twitter account: “Tottenham are denying rumours about Harry Kane set to join Manchester City. Daniel Levy wants to keep Kane – there’s nothing agreed between clubs.  Manchester City are interested but there’s NO fee agreed. Only bid was one month ago: £100m, turned down.”

For now, it looks likely that Kane will remain a Spurs player for at least another season, but many Spurs fans will still be holding their fingers crossed in the hope that he follows in Heung-min Son’s footsteps by signing a new contract extension.
