I think the Tottenham Hotspur rumour mill had already linked us with veteran player Dani Alves this summer, but over the weekend the speculation exploded as the 36-year-old player spoke about his future.
Outlet AS namechecked the Brazilian international as being of interest to us, Manchester City and Arsenal following the expiry of his contract with French giants Paris Saint-Germain but if we have made contact over the player, this would be a very un-Spurs like move full stop given his age – but the players quality and career in the game cannot be argued with.
Speaking to Globo Esporte recently, the player wasn’t ruling anything out but guaranteed whoever signed him would be getting a ‘Champion’.
“I have many things to conquer in football and with that spirit I go anywhere. The only thing I can say is that the one who hired me will have a champion.”
It definitely split reactions amongst the fans with some thinking it would be a cracking deal given his experience, but others flatly refusing to believe in the rumour given it would be such a left field move for us.
It would certainly be a statement, that’s for sure.
Still don’t believe in this won’t get my hopes up
