Reports Of Another Spurs Injury Blow Should Be Treated With A Pinch Of Salt At This Stage (Updated)

|

Tuesday evening was a great night for Tottenham Hotspur fans really given we took Champions League quarter-final advantage over Manchester City at our new White Hart Lane Stadium, but the excitement was tempered slightly by the potentially massive injury sustained by Harry Kane.

With our 25-year-old heading out of the game in the 58th minute with Lucas Moura coming on as his replacement, our injury woes weren’t over as Dele Alli was replaced by Fernando Llorente late on in the game with an obvious wrist problem.

The news with Alli is obviously concerning and there are images circulating with his arm now in a plaster cast, but the reaction in the press has been overblown. The common theme in reports is a suspected broken hand but it’s not the 1800’s anymore, as proven by Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy who played on through similar with a protective cast without any problems or complications.

Unless there’s an issue with the break that’s yet to be confirmed, he may miss the Huddersfield Town this weekend to let the break settle or he may take a precautionary place on the bench depending on whether he’s trained. Purely to cover any confidence issues of being back in action with such an injury, but Alli has been injured before and he’ll know then mental route through a bit of rough and tumble himself.

Late update below

Spurs have since confirmed that Alli has fractured his left hand, but he’s being assessed ahead of Huddersfield Town as expected.

Kane is also said to have sustained ‘significant’ ligament damage in his ankle and no time frame has yet been put on his return, as he will continue to be assessed.
