Report: Tottenham midfielder will be ‘made available’ for sale in January

|

Eric Dier recently made his long-awaited return to Tottenham’s starting eleven but the 25-year-old could be on his way out in January if latest reports are to be believed.

According to Gary Jacob of The Times, Dier will be ‘made available’ for sale in the New Year. Mauricio Pochettino plans a mid-season exodus of players in a bid to turn Tottenham’s form around, and Dier is one of five on the list.

The England international has been short of playing time in 2019 due to injury woes, making 14 appearances in all competitions this year and racking up less than 800 minutes on the pitch.

Dier had an appendectomy in December 2018, a hip injury in March 2019 and underwent surgery over the summer on a problem that was detected by medical staff. He spent most of the year on the treatment table and unsurprisingly fell down the pecking order as a result.

This season, the 25-year-old finds himself behind Tanguy Ndombele, Moussa Sissoko & Harry Winks in midfield, Kyle Walker-Peters & Juan Foyth at right-back, and Toby Alderweireld, Jan Vertonghen & Davinson Sanchez at centre-back.

Dier may be surplus to requirements, hence why Pochettino is happy to let him go.
