Report: Daniel Levy ‘willing to sell’ Tottenham man ‘at a significant loss’ in January

|

According to Wayne Veysey of Football Insider, Daniel Levy is ‘willing to sell’ Serge Aurier in January ‘at a significant loss’.

The 26-year-old was expected to be sold over the summer but Tottenham couldn’t locate a willing suitor.

Aurier’s return to the first-team hasn’t gone to plan either, so the January transfer window will present Levy with another opportunity to cash in.

The Ivorian international has made four appearances in all competitions for Spurs this season – he’s been on the losing side twice, been sent off once and conceded 10 goals.

With Mauricio Pochettino having Juan Foyth and Kyle Walker-Peters to compete at right-back, it’s hard to see Aurier having a future in North London.

Tottenham paid £23m to sign the defender from Paris Saint-Germain in 2017, but they’re resigned to losing out on a lot of money through his sale.

The 26-year-old has made 45 appearances in two years, scoring and creating 11 goals, but he’s struggled for consistency and fell down the pecking order in 2018/19 – 563 minutes of Premier League football played.

AS Monaco and PSG were linked with a move for Aurier over the summer, but it remains to be seen which clubs will want him in January.
