Explained: Why Tottenham could miss out on highly-rated Crystal Palace youngster

|

Tottenham had been linked with a move for Zion Atta in the week and were said to have competition for his signature from Chelsea, Manchester City, Manchester United and Liverpool.

The Lilywhites look set to miss out on the highly-rated 14-year-old, however, as he appears content at Crystal Palace.

He scored in Palace’s Super Floodlit Cup final win over Wigan in May and has an impressive showreel on YouTube from his time at Millwall.

It’s little wonder Atta has interest from every top club in the Premier League, but his family believe he’s better off staying at Palace and playing for the u18s this season.

As he’s yet to sign a professional contract with the Eagles, suitors are free to offer Atta a deal, but it remains to be seen if they will.

The young striker spent five years at Millwall and had trials at United, Chelsea and Brighton & Hove Albion before joining Palace for around £60k in 2018.

Millwall could land themselves a windfall if Atta enjoys future success too. The Lions will be due future fees if Atta makes a first-team appearance and have a sell-on clause if Palace sell the teenager.
