Injury boost as Tottenham man returns to training ahead of Watford clash

|

Tottenham have been patiently waiting for Giovani Lo Celso to return from a hip injury, with the midfielder having been out of action since early September, but it appears they’ve finally been handed good news.

According to Dan Kilpatrick of the Evening Standard, Lo Celso has returned to training ahead of Saturday’s meeting with Watford. Tottenham are in desperate need of a result over the weekend, but they will have to do without the 23-year-old as he’ll still be short of fitness.

Nevertheless, having Lo Celso in first-team training is a major boost for Mauricio Pochettino. The Argentine international has racked up just 44 minutes of Premier League football across three appearances since joining from Real Betis, so he’ll be keen to make up for lost time.

Tottenham need him too. The Lilywhites sit ninth in the table with 11 points from eight games, having lost two of their last three and conceding six goals for their troubles.

After Spurs face Watford on Saturday, they’ll have a must-win Champions League group game at home to Crvena Zvezda (October 22) before travelling to face Liverpool in the league five days later.
