Report: Anderlecht could sign £34k-per-week Tottenham man, club director says ‘almost there’

According to Belgian outlet Het Laatste Nieuws, Anderlecht could sign Vincent Janssen this summer. The £34k-per-week Tottenham striker has struggled for form and playing time under Mauricio Pochettino and is expected to leave after falling down the pecking order.

As per The Sun, Anderlecht sporting director Michael Verschueren said “we’re almost there” regarding to the deal. Jansen has been on the periphery at Tottenham for some time and doesn’t have a future while Pochettino is in charge. The 25-year-old has made 46 appearances in all competitions since joining from AZ Alkmaar in 2016 and has scored just six goals.

He made only three appearances last season and hasn’t scored a goal for Spurs since April 15, 2017. With Pochettino preferring Harry Kane, Heung-min Son and Lucas Moura in attack over the Dutchman, Janssen doesn’t stand a chance of playing for the Londoners again. They may not get a lot of money through his sale either.

Anderlecht are looking to offer him an escape route this summer. The Belgian outfit finished outside of the European places last season and are looking to bolster their attack as a result. Whether Janssen can bring more goals to the Constant Vanden Stock Stadium remains to be seen, however, as he’s only netted five goals in two years for Tottenham and Fenerbahce (loan).
