Eric Dier is clearly an individual that splits opinions with the Tottenham Hotspur faithful at the moment.

We recently covered a fan reaction article here on Vital Spurs where plenty of the club’s fans were happy to see him go following a report by the Daily Express suggesting that Mauricio Pochettino was prepared to let him leave.

Since then, there has been another report from The Mirror (relayed by Talking THFC) suggesting that the Argentine would be willing to cash in on him (and Victor Wanyama) this summer should Tanguy Ndombele arrive, however, supporters are now desperate to see the England international remain at the club.

Admittedly, if we do sign the likes of Ndombele, Bruno Fernandes and Giovani Lo Celso, it could be very difficult for Dier to have a chance of making a real impact in the first-team as competition for places will have only increased in an area already filled with talent.

However, there could be every chance that he plays a role in defence for us as he is more than capable of doing so, especially with the future of Toby Alderweireld still touch and go because of that pesky £25million release clause in his contract (Telegraph).

But, it would appear as though fans would be disappointed to see the 25-year-old be offloaded this summer as many felt he could still do a job for us.

One fan suggested it would be a ‘mistake’ to let Dier leave whilst another admitted it would be a ‘painful’ summer if he were to go.

Here are just some of their reactions…

  • Spurs had an exceptional season despite getting so many players injured and out of form from playing jingoistic international football to feed the FA parasites. We need to convince our players to back off on playing football for International teams. We got less than half a season of good football from Kane because he got swept up in the Captain England nonsense.
Were I an owner; I would adjust player contracts so that players got no salary from the team while training or playing for or recovering from injury or form deterioration resulting from playing International football. These “nationalistic tournaments are doing irreperable harm to club leagues. National teams should be designated for Age 29 or over.

    • Playing Jingoistic International football? Please, I think you’re the one with parasites and they’re eating at your brain! I have never read such unrealistic passage of nonsense in my entirety, are you related to Adrian Durham by any chance? Because he has a capacity for spouting nonsense also. Your views are neither workable or practically realistic, come back to the real world dear boy.
