Tottenham have built an incredible squad over the last few years, with some of England’s best players currently within the setup in north London.
However, they’ve got a very real chance of losing one of their most important men, with Christian Eriksen consistently being linked with a move away at present. Real Madrid are interested, at least according to the Mirror.
It’s always been clear that losing the Dane would be a big blow for Tottenham, but the club’s need to tie him down to a new contract is even greater now than it has been for some time.
That’s because he proved his quality yet again for the club on Tuesday with a stunning goal against Brighton. The Seagulls kept Spurs at bay for the best part of 90 minutes before a brilliant strike from Eriksen won the game for the Lilywhites during the closing stages. It could prove to be a vital three points for the club, as a draw would have reduced the gap between them and the likes of Chelsea and Arsenal.
Normally, Eriksen is known for splitting defences and creating magic for his teammates; but this goal highlighted his ability to be the man to end attacks; and that highlights just how remarkable of a player he is.
In truth, he can do it all. Big teams turn to their best players when the going gets tough – and that’s exactly how Eriksen dealt with the situation at hand. He stepped up.
Tottenham can’t afford to lose him. He’s invaluable. We need to do all we can to keep him.
