Juan Foyth is finally back from injury for Tottenham and has made four appearances in as many weeks, so could the 21-year-old be in line to start after the international break? Serge Aurier has been a regular at right-back this season, but he’s struggled for consistency and could be replaced.
Foyth made his return coming off the bench Tottenham’s 5-0 win over Crvena zvezda (October 22) and 1-1 draw with Everton (November 3) before starting in Spurs’ 4-0 thrashing of Crvena zvezda (November 6). He replaced Aurier in Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Sheffield United (November 9) and may be primed to start against West Ham United (November 23).
Ahead of the 2019/20 campaign, Foyth was tipped to be Tottenham’s first-choice right-back before injuring his ankle, but Aurier’s poor form may give him an opportunity to play. When fit, the 21-year-old has been a regular in Argentina’s defence and could be a long-term option at club level too.
Aurier has been linked with a move away from Tottenham while Kyle Walker-Peters hasn’t made the matchday squad for three months, so Foyth could be the answer to Mauricio Pochettino’s fullback problem.
