Report: Inter Milan ‘remain’ interested in 26-year-old Tottenham man ‘for January’

|

According to Calciomercato, Serge Aurier ‘remains a target for January’ amid interest from Inter Milan. The 26-year-old was linked with a move to AS Monaco, Paris Saint-Germain, Inter and AC Milan over the summer, but he remained at Tottenham as no acceptable offer was put to the Lilywhites.

Aurier was available for sale in July & August and is reportedly still on the transfer list, but Mauricio Pochettino has brought him back in from the cold. The Ivorian international has made seven appearances in all competitions this season, all of which have come since mid-September onwards.

Kieran Trippier’s move to Atletico Madrid opened the door for Aurier, Kyle Walker-Peters and Juan Foyth to claim the right-back spot as their own this season, but surprisingly the outcast is the one Pochettino has preferred. Selling a regular first-team player would seem odd, but it’s what Levy did with Trippier in July.

Inter could be Aurier’s next destination as a result. The 26-year-old’s future is uncertain even though he’s regularly playing for Tottenham. His form has been inconsistent in 2019/20 and Pochettino has Walker-Peters & Foyth to replace him. Time will tell.
