Opinion: Significant Tottenham setback isn’t as bad as most fans will think

|

When Harry Kane limped off against Man City in the Champions League, it’s fair to say that most Spurs fans were holding their breath. There’s no denying that Kane is our most important player, and when he’s on the field, we’ve always got a good chance of scoring.

Naturally, then, news that his season could be over is sure to leave fans sweating. He’s a real favourite, and with good reason.

However, now isn’t the time to panic. Indeed, the reality of the situation is that Spurs can deal with the gap that Kane leaves behind – because they’ve got more than enough to cover his absence.

After all, against Man City, it wasn’t Kane that scored the crucial goal for the Lilywhites – it was Son Heung-min. The talented South Korean has proven himself to be a brilliant attacking midfielder with a real eye for a goal, and when we’ve needed someone to step up, he so often has. He has deputised for Kane before, and to tremendous effect, and it’s clear that he’s a man that’s in his best form right now.

If there was ever a time for Kane to be out of action, it’s probably now, because with Son impressing whenever he plays, he should be able to carry the weight.

Of course, Fernando Llorente has also been pretty good recently, and he’ll offer Mauricio Pochettino another valued option going forward. But Son will be the main man, and to be honest, losing Kane doesn’t actually bother us too much.

Sure, it’s a blow, but with 12 league goals this season, few players in the Premier League come close to having the lethality that Son possesses.
