Opinion: 22-year-old to revatilise Mauricio Pochettino’s Tottenham

|

Tanguy Ndombele is proving to be a brilliant signing for Spurs, and on Saturday he turned in his best performance so far and was deservedly named Man of the Match.

The Frenchman scored his second goal for Spurs since he signed for them in July for a club-record fee.

An early injury setback halted Ndombele’s progress, but he now looks to be getting to the levels that Mauricio Pochettino expected of him when he first signed.

Ndombele could be the man to replace the presence of Mousa Dembele and if he can do that then maybe Tottenham will be able to start to dominate games from midfield – as they have done for most of Pochettino’s time in charge.

A double pivot of Harry Winks and Ndombele on paper could be one of the best midfield pairings in the league and with Ndombele now settling in and adapting to the Premier League do not be surprised to see him begin to dictate matches.

Ndombele has also scored two goals in his short time with Tottenham Dembele, on the other hand, only managed ten in his seven years with the club – so already the 22-year-old is on course to provide more end product than Dembele ever did.

Of course, what the Belgian was good at was shielding the ball and maintaining possession for his side.

Many Spurs players have said that Dembele was the best player in the squad in terms of his technique and ability on the ball and though it is early days Ndombele looks to be the man who can restore Tottenham’s midfield dominance.
