Official: Tottenham defender has ‘returned to full training’ ahead of Olympiacos clash

|

Tottenham confirm that Juan Foyth ‘has returned to full training’ ahead of Wednesday’s Champions League meeting with Olypmpiacos, but the 21-year-old is unlikely to feature. Foyth hasn’t played a single minute of football for Spurs this season, having been out of action with an ankle injury, but he’s on the recovery trail and could return soon.

In his absence, Mauricio Pochettino has turned to Kyle Walker-Peters, Serge Aurier and even Davinson Sanchez to operate at right-back this season. Foyth could have been a regular in the starting lineup had he been fit, but now he’ll have stiff competition for places.

Since his move from Estudiantes in August 2017, Foyth has gone on to make 25 appearances, scoring one goal. The Argentine international hasn’t been able to hold down a starting place in the last two years, but he will be a useful player for Pochettino due to his versatility in defence. And now he’s back in full training, supporters could see Foyth back out on the pitch soon.

After Tottenham’s meeting with Olympiacos, they’ll travel to the King Power Stadium to face Leicester City on September 21.
