Official: Gillingham sign out-of-favour Tottenham defender, player agrees two-year deal

|

Gillingham FC have confirmed the signing of Connor Ogilvie on a two-year deal. The 23-year-old has turned his loan deal permanent at the Priestfield Stadium, having spent the last two years with the League Two outfit. Ogilvie rose through the youth ranks to the fringes of the Tottenham first-team but failed to make an appearance in the senior squad.

The centre-back, who has also played left-back for the Gils in 2018/19, made the matchday squad just once for Tottenham – against Benfica (Europa League) on March 20, 2014. The lack of opportunities led to Ogilvie embarking upon loan moves away from the club for the sake of regular football – Stevenage (August 14, 2015 – May 31, 2016 & January 24, 2017 – May 31, 2017) and Gillingham (July 7, 2017 – May 31, 2018 & August 31, 2018 – May 31, 2019).

He made 42 appearances in all competitions for Stevenage in his 18 months at Broadhall Way, scoring and creating three goals. The defender made 79 appearances in two years at Gillingham, contributing five goals. The Gils recently finished 13th in League One with 55 points from 46 games. Ogilvie featured 31 times in the third tier and helped keep eight clean sheets.
