Some supporters weren’t pleased with Christian Eriksen’s performance in Wednesday night’s 2-0 defeat at Chelsea. The 27-year-old has a propensity to wilt under the pressure in big games, and he delivered a below-par showing at Stamford Bridge when his side need him the most.

What’s happened to Eriksen is his heart not in it anymore ? playing like a player who’s just seeing his final days at the club . When he plays we play ! Who’s plan B when he is on a off day ? #THFC #COYS

For the second match running, Eriksen and Son, two of our most creative players were totally ineffective. Very worrying as we head towards the final stretch. #THFC #COYS

When we most need our players to step up, all too often they go missing. Erikssen, Lamela, Son, Lloris, Trippier, Toby, Sissoko were all very poor last night. We'll never win anything unless they take charge, do their job and show what they're made of. #THFC

V poor tonight. Lamela awful – not a single positive contribution. Eriksen non existent. Davies and Trippier didn’t get down the wings. We never looked like scoring. Poch has to shake things up and Levy get the cheque book out this summer #THFC

Eriksen was even accused by some on social media of having his head turned, amid rumours of interest from Real Madrid, but there weren’t many Tottenham players who came away with any credit from the Chelsea defeat so it would be unfair to single out the Danish international.
Nevertheless, he wasn’t at his best at the Bridge. Eriksen made 68 touches, 49 passes with 73.5% accuracy, two dribbles, one tackle and one interception. He failed to create a single opportunity, failed to register a shot on target and he whipped in three crosses without finding a teammate on the night,
Eriksen has made 35 appearances in all competitions (1872 minutes in the Premier League, 470 minutes in the Champions League and 354 minutes in the EFL Cup) this season, scoring and creating 19 goals. He has an uncertain future due to his contract having less than 18 months to run and no progress being made on an extension, but fans demand he gives his all while he’s still at the club.
