Kieran Trippier had an evening to forget against Chelsea on Wednesday night. The Tottenham defender scored an own goal in the 2-0 defeat and was on the end of vehement criticism from some supporters on social media. Fans weren’t happy with his inclusion in the starting XI and their opinion didn’t change after Trippier put in a below-par showing at Stamford Bridge.

Trippier, Davies, Lamela are all not good enough for Spurs. Huge investment needed in the full back positions #COYS #THFC

Trippier,Davies,Lamela should head the transfer list. Get a quality GK to send Lloris to 2nd choice. Trippier's mistakes alone has cost Spurs about 12 points this season. Poch has to find another way of playing that doesn't rely on Eriksen. #THFC

I remain confused on how Kieran Trippier went from gold to garbage so quickly for #Spurs. #thfc #COYS

The 28-year-old made 103 touches, 68 passes with 84% accuracy and whipped in eight crosses with 38% accuracy. He created one chance, made one tackle, one interception and nine clearances, but his overall performance led to a negative reaction from those watching. Tripper has been inconsistent this season and now some fans want to see Mauricio Pochettino consider Kyle Walker-Peters at right-back instead.
Trippier has made 28 appearances in all competitions (1828 minutes in the Premier League, 195 minutes in the Champions League, 180 minutes in the EFL Cup and 90 minutes in the FA Cup) this season, scoring and creating five goals. The England international has been a regular in the defence but his performances have often left a lot to be desired. Whether Pochettino takes him out of the firing line for their next game remains to be seen, however.
