Mourinho’s Appointment Surely Only Raises More Questions At Spurs – It’s Chalk & Cheese

|

Although Mauricio Pochettino’s departure from Tottenham Hotspur wasn’t exactly a shock in the true sense of the word, given all the speculation and the way our form has nosedived, few would’ve expected the announcement to come on Tuesday evening.

With the confirmation coming in, the rumour mill bearly had time to click into gear when it came to a replacement, as previously rumoured favourite Jose Mourinho was quickly announced this morning and confirmation of his backroom staff followed in the afternoon.

Whatever the individual thoughts about Mourinho, it appears we’ve been in discussions with him for the last few weeks – there’s no denying it’s a risk, especially after his time at Manchester United.

Mourinho is a winner and his record speaks for itself, but if Levy wasn’t willing to back Pochettino properly, then why have we brought in a manager not known for development, but definitely known for big spending? Mourinho has regularly spent Poch’s net spend in a single season and promises must have been made on that front.

The appointment only raises further questions and that’s before we even entertain playing style discussions. Free flowing, attacking football with pace and excitement is what Poch will be remembered for. Jose is far more pragmatic, defensive and, well let’s face it, dull but effective.

Pundits are split on the gamble, fans certainly are. Is Levy looking at simply the risk of no Champions League football next season, or is he looking three years down the line – where things seem to sour?

I suppose we just need to try and enjoy the ride.

Is Mourinho The Right Man?

Genius Appointment

Hell No
