Mourinho must hear PL icon out who claims Spurs could ‘unearth’ star to replace key man – Opinion

Any club who loses their starting striker to injury is always going to find it difficult to adjust, but for Tottenham, life without Harry Kane is proving to be a challenge.

Spurs have only managed one win so far in 2020, and Jose Mourinho has already admitted several times that he is going to find it difficult to play the style he wants with Kane out until April at the earliest.

These are trying times for Tottenham, and their efforts to sign a replacement for their talisman striker this month have so far been unsuccessful, with The Daily Mail recently reporting that a deal to sign FC Porto attacker Ze Luis is off due to work permit problems.

Yet former manager and Premier League icon Harry Redknapp has stepped forward with his suggestion as to what the club should do to replace Kane, that being to dip into the club’s academy and pluck an exciting striker into the first-team until the 26-year-old centre-forward is back to full fitness.

Is Redknapp Right Here?

Yes, Kane Can't Be Replaced

No Chance, We Need Someone In

Best Of Both Worlds - Parrott

The ex-Spurs boss told Sky Sports News: “If I was Jose, I think I would sit tight. They have unearthed a young kid out of the reserves this week (Japhet Tanganga), who came in and played all across the back four, he’s been great. I am sure there might be another one there, who they might want to give a chance to. Chelsea have done it – there are lots of talented kids out there and they just need a chance to play.”

As we all know, though, Mourinho is stern when it comes to promoting youth players from the academy and into the first-team as explained by Tifo Football, yet the Portuguese manager might be willing to listen to Redknapp’s words of advice.

Indeed, one of Tottenham’s most exciting prospects this season is 17-year-old attacker Troy Parrott, who was handed his Premier League debut by Mourinho this season just weeks after making his first senior international appearance for the Republic of Ireland.

With the Spurs boss also giving Japhet Tanganga a surprise start against both Liverpool and Middlesbrough, it could be the Mourinho has turned a corner in his youth policy, and if that is to be the case, the likes of Parrott could well be called up to replace Kane for the upcoming months.
