Mauricio Pochettino could sell Tottenham player who ‘does not wish to leave’ in January

According to the Daily Mail, Mauricio Pochettino could sell Victor Wanyama in January, despite the fact the Tottenham midfielder ‘does not wish to leave’. Wanyama has struggled with injuries of late and has hardly featured for Spurs this season which could see him deemed surplus to requirements as the club have coped very well in his absence.

Moussa Sissoko has enjoyed a real upturn in form in midfield, helping Tottenham get over the loss of Wanyama and Mousa Dembele, so Pochettino won’t be too fearful at the prospect of losing the aforementioned duo in January or next summer. Instead, a replacement could be recruited should the right name appear on Tottenham’s radar.

Wanyama might be a hard player for Spurs to shift, however, given he’s racked up only 146 minutes of Premier League football. The 27-year-old had a knee problem at the start of the season and was only back briefly before a setback kept him sidelined for more than six weeks. Wanyama’s last league outing came against Crystal Palace on November 10.

But with Tottenham second in the league at the mid-point of the season, clearly Pochettino doesn’t miss Wanyama.
