Match Thread – Spurs Looking To Espirito Wolves Away

|

Firstly, I hope all Tottenham Hotspur, and Vital Spurs, fans had a lovely Christmas and the big fat man in a red suit bought you all you desired – albeit for many sadly, not what they wanted with restrictions in place, but we’ll definitely be looking for manager Jose Mourinho to provide more cheer as we head towards 2021 with victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux on Sunday evening.

With players rested for the EFL Cup clash with Stoke City, we should be in a good place to take victory once again as we travel, but we certainly can’t underestimate Nuno Espirito Santo’s side, even if they have had a bit of a wobbly spell in recent matches.

Tanguy Ndombele is reportedly fit for this one, but Giovani Lo Celso’s hamstring injury will see him out, along with Japhet Tanganga. The jury is out on Gareth Bale from what I’ve seen (which admittedly isn’t much) with the foot injury that saw him substituted at half time in the last one.

Let’s hope we top the Christmas period off in perfect style and take all three points.

What a start 1-0 after one minute with an ultra defensive team and a ghastly army and navy rejects kit. Bit weak on the right side with Doherty and Winks. ( We desperately need a decent right back … Lamptey anybody or Walker Peters !!!). Pleased to see Dele on the bench…Mourinho has toldhim he mustn’t attack.

He is our 10th defender and must stay in his own half and defend like Kane and Son. Only go forward when they are down to 9 men otherwise I will bully and humiliate you. I am small but I am the boss and I hate creative, flair players who try clever tricks and score brilliant goals. You are not here to entertain!!!
Poch likely to go to PSG. Shame. I thought we might have got him back by Easter.
Will we end up second tonight or tenth. COYS

Same ringtone gets boring after a while, another set pieces, another late goal, another lead and failing to go for a 2nd in the 2nd half.

  • DoncasterHotspur says:

    Another Mourinho masterclass

  • Ossie.. says:

Thought we were unlucky but we need to start killing the game rather than hanging on but that gonna need a change if approach.
But im so happy for Poch, no more than he deserves.

Another bore draw, what a waste of our attacking talent, it won’t be a lack of trophies that causes Kane to leave!

  • Allan says:

OK Who thought that was good ?

Absolute rubbish Couldn’t punch our way out of a paper bag after
    20 mins .

    THat long ??

Our midfield is poor and we do not play as a team but rely on individual expertise .

If anyone has positives about tonight please let’s herar them .

What a disgraceful shambles. We had one minute of exciting Spurs football then spent the rest of the game passing the ball backwards. ( Quote from the commentator!) So, so boring Spurs. Yet another wasted evening watching paint dry and Jose slumped in his throne looking bored and disinterested. For goodness sake man get up and show some enthusiasm instead of spending 5 minutes showing Bergwijn maps of the pitch and totally confusing the player. I now have the next match on Amazon Prime. Dare I watch it ? Oh it’s Fulham at home. Another “easy” game.

  • Hot Tottingham says:

You know what really angers me?!

Is that even if we had won that, I would be writing the same as I’m about to write…

This is now getting beyond ridiculous with Jose’s ultra negativity and sit back and play nothing but defend-ball, football………

We take the lead in the 1st minute and then sit beck and say out loud to Wolves; “Now, we’re gonna give you 90+ minutes to try and get some points here. Go for it!”… And then we play the entire match like a 1st division team in a relegation battle!

I can only say that Wolves deserved to get all 3 points… AND, we should get points deducted for that non-showing! Non -football nonsense!

    Cheers Jose! Happy New Year!

  • Stan Rosenthal says:

This must be the last straw. Scoring in the first minute and trying to hang on to the lead for the rest of game. Allowing wave after wave of Wolves’ attacks resulting in the Inevitable Groundhog Day equaliser in the last five minutes. If anything proved that this ultra defensive set up is no way to challenge for honours it was this game. Can anyone get this through to Mourinho?

  • DoncasterHotspur says:

Anyone out there still like to come on and defend Jose. Now that the opposition have worked out that getting men around Kane in midfield snuffs out our only attacking threat Jose is totally clueless.
I wonder who Jose is going to blame for this one. The worst thing is, the next time we go a goal up, Jose will do exactly the same thing again.
Kane and Son now look totally fed up. There is no chance of us qualifying for the Champions League- I would hold off from signing that new contract Sonny.

    • Pauric says:

It really is coming to the point where I don’t want to watch the club I support its that boring and painfull to watch. Mourinho is lucky there’s no fans in the stadium’s,mind you I’m not sure how many fans would turn up to watch that muck.

  • Niall D says:

Well I thoroughly enjoyed the game we were brilliant
But in reality all I can say is that we got a point.
It’s getting to be a hard watch isn’t it.
Yet again we score an early goal try to hold on (for some unknown reason)
They score around the 80th minute which sparks us into “life” and we start to play a bit.
I’m gonna call out Winks again sorry folks his passing was very wayward at times and “often” gave it away in dangerous areas.
OK against lesser side but against Premiership sides he is found wanting.
Why take our best player off the only person doing positive stuff was N Dombers, and he as usual gets taken off in the 60 something minutes.
    I despair.

  • Hot Tottingham says:

The post match comments on here are of anger, frustration and despair.

This tells me a lot about a Spurs team performance and Jose’s poor, poor tactics., in a match in which we played away to a team just 3 places below us at kick-off and we didn’t even lose…

It felt to me like we were losing from the 1st minute on…… And we were winning, for Gods sake!

    Oh well…… It ain’t over til it’s over…….

    Up the Spurs!

  • 123spurs says:

5 games going into the last 5 minutes of a game and end up dropping point, set pieces ring a bell, and why hasnt jose learned from this. 4 games ago title talk now its a struggle to finish top 4.

  • 123spurs says:

Jose you say dele is not up to it and needs to improve,

Jose ur tactics are not up to it, you need to improve and change

    Jose has been backed

Jose has all attacking talent and sets them up like this

  • Hot Tottingham says:

    Too right, 123.

Kane Son and Ndombele could’ve run riot today after that start… And Dele could’ve done his bit too….. Or Vinicius even… Talking of Vinnie… Has he done an Elvis on us and already left the building? Where is he? Or does he now share a cell with Alli?

Instead, they just end up running around, aimlessly chasing shadows, falling over, diving, fouling and giving away far too many free-kicks…

Is this what Jose would call being an “intelligent c***t? Or is he just taking us all for being a bunch of stupid c****s?!

  • TQ2Spurs says:

You just know someone will come on and claim it was a good away point!

  • TQ2Spurs says:

We got off to the perfect start and looked comfortable attacking their box for 18 minutes and then it was as if someone flicked a switch which set up a force field that prevented our players from entering their half.

  • TQ2Spurs says:

I don’t know why Jose doesn’t just play 5 defenders and 5 defensive midfielders, that way we wouldn’t be asking attacking players to do something they aren’t trained to do.

  • TQ2Spurs says:

Danny, it’s a shame your post match “Goal” articles don’t attract any comments being in the News section.

  • TQ2Spurs says:

There’s a telling stat on MOTD2, we have only had a total of 22 shots on goal in the second half in SEVEN games!
