The month of March didn’t open with a bang for Antonio Conte’s Tottenham Hotspur side given the hugely disappointing FA Cup defeat to Middlesbrough, so few thought we’d see an almost classic performance as we welcomed Everton to White Hart Lane on Monday for a thoroughly enjoyable 5-0 spanking.
I don’t think anyone will be expecting a second performance of that clinical quality as we make the trip to Old Trafford to face Manchester United on Saturday, but coming back with all three points certainly isn’t out of the equation as they aren’t the side they used to be – despite all the help they continue to get from the Video Assistant Referee shambles.
The only fresh injury issue we have is Ryan Sessegnon’s muscular problem that saw him substituted at the half time break back on Monday and we can probably expect Japhet Tanganga and Oliver Skipp to still be out for this one, but hopefully there won’t be any further unexpected issues as a positive result here would really lift spirits further.
Are we going to gift Ronaldo the match ball
A mid table clash with two really poor teams. A sorry state of affairs.
And yet again given an opportunity and they fail each an everytime.
DH how is 4th in the league midtable.
One man show. Can’t deny that. At least they did not win with a penalty and we got one exactly the same as Dier’s handball.
But we were not good enough to capitalise on our possession.
We then threw the towel in by bringing on our not very super subs Winks and Bergweijn…oh dear. What was the point…we did not need to waste time and they are just time wasters and nothing else. Where are our lively, enthusiastic young players?
How old is Ronaldo? How old is Cavani?
Doherty back to his worst
Decent enough performance on the whole but undone by lapses in concentration.
Probably deserved a draw, but Ronaldo was the difference.
In general I have no problem with this sort of performance, but given the context it is again a winnable game which we could not capitalise on.
No point in Romero putting in good performances when in crucial moments with set pieces he never picks his man up, or he never deal with his man, that’s 3 goals conceded from set pieces when he has done that. Dier for the first goal just turning his back and failing to close Ronaldo down was criminal. Their 2nd was unfortunate as we tried to play the line but Reggy was slightly off in his judgement, however we are talking about inches and this can happen, the first and third goals were totally avoidable though.
It’s clear our wingbacks are not good enough for the roles. Doherty was again awful and Regulion wasn’t that great. Sessegnon in my opinion will never be good enough, i hope he proVes me wrong and Royale is clearly not a wingback. Surely in the summer we shall be addressing this area!
No goals from open against a shocking united team
Got to admit….Consistantly Inconsistent Spurs. COYCIS
