Match Thread – Mourinho Will Be Looking For A Brucie Bonus Against Newcastle

|

With an unexpected rest in midweek and on the back of Thursday evening’s comfortable, but nervy, Qualifying Third Round tie against Shkendija, Tottenham Hotspur are quickly back in action on Sunday as we face Newcastle United at White Hart Lane.

With the club learning that we have been handed a bye through to the fourth round of the EFL Cup today, it means we face Chelsea in the next game but gain the advantage of having played one match fewer in this bizarre cramped run of fixtures.

As for Newcastle, manager Jose Mourinho will undoubtedly rotate the pack once again to help keep everyone fresh so we can expect returns for the likes of Matt Doherty and Hugo Lloris and we continue to be without Gareth Bale, but if fellow newbie Sergio Reguilon misses this one, I’d imagine he’ll be in contention for the Cup clash on Tuesday evening.

Form wise at this very early stage of the season, we are level pegging with the Geordies in the table but now we seem to have found our goalscoring boots, we should have every confidence of dispatching them and taking ourselves onto six points.

Always easier said than done though isn’t it.

Newcastle...

German striker Jurgen Klinsmann spent two years at White Hart Lane in separate spells, but how many league goals did he contribute?

The decision was a joke and if you look at the rules then it actually shouldn’t have been given as a handball. My point was that Newcastle were so bad, one of the worst teams I have ever seen and we weren’t good enough to kill them off. Same with Palace last season and we nearly paid the penalty in the Europa League. I am not sure if it is Jose’s tactics or that we are not good enough. I would suggest it is a bit of both

Ok i take my previous comment back. It looks like Son is out between 6-8 weeks with a hamstring injury. I am pretty sure we are cursed.

SO…..I have mentioned before that it appears someone forgot to place a pile of salt in each corner of the new stadium. I’m not sure where the tradition comes from or what the purpose is but I believe it is something to do with warding off evil spirits! 🙂

  • DoncasterHotspur says:

TQ2Spurs – no I am not comforted by Jose’s meaningless words. He loves himself more than he loves anything else. I don’t like him as our manager and I will be happy when he is gone.

  • TQ2Spurs says:

DH……..I was just trying to lighten the mood but I do appreciate that you are very passionate in your views on JM and respect that.

  • Geofspurs says:

Ash …. You’re still on here!!

  • TQ2Spurs says:

Geof……my guess is he didn’t want to stick around with a bunch of numpties! 🙂

  • DoncasterHotspur says:

TQ2 Spurs- you have lightened the mood. Jose’s negativity already starting to show itself – fixtures, refs, injuries etc. Moan moan, winge winge. Can’t wait for him to be gone.

    Hellp

  • Alanspurs says:

Also dont come here much ,because of constant complaining Dh you said Jm is always moaning and complaining kettle black my misses would be proud of you

  • DoncasterHotspur says:

Geofspurs – all muppets and numpties have been removed from this site. Funnily enough no sign of Ash

  • DoncasterHotspur says:

Are Ash and Jod the same person

  • TQ2Spurs says:

    Ash aka Asher the Smasher

Hmm – first of all glad to hear that HK10 was not the 1 sent off as I originally thought whilst watching at the end of the game there – thank fcuk for that!

Now though from the looks of things the REAL sucker punch comes with regards to Sonny – how long is he going to be out for and then how long to get back fit, etc – don’t want to say it but could it be as bad as maybe around Xmas?! Bollox end of!

This is what happens when you make the guy play every minute of every game so far namely 4 x 90 and the 45 today in 15 days at the start of what was already an atypical season for obvious reasons – if only we’d signed that bloody elusive 2nd STR/CF over the summer as we should have – we would not have been forced to play him so long already! Yes, I know he’s a bloody winger, but on Thursday in order to rest HK10 and stop him getting injured, we put Sonny up front and then even though he moved to his favoured wing position when HK10 came on – he still flaming well played the full match AGAIN – not bloody good enough and now we pay the fcuking price quite frankly!

Due to our lack of proper planning and recruitment and squad management – we’ve now turned our 2 main star’s (barring Bale of course who just returned to us last weekend indeed) in HK10 and Sonny into injury prone types especially when not protecting and rotating them appropriately and properly. Bale is already considered injury prone also – so even though they’ve got the talent to match Mane, Salah and Firmino for sure (Europe’s even the World’s best attacking trident) – can they stay fit enough to do so?!

Ridiculous and we’ve now paid the price for it already and AGAIN!

  • Alanspurs says:

Not Jose’s biggest fan ,but I support spurs not Jose and if u analyse today’s game your talking nonsense ,because we didnt get 3 points you take it out on the manager but we totally dominated like spurs used too people like you will never be happy EVER also note my first game was 1978 so I’ve seen a few

  • DoncasterHotspur says:

And these are supposed to be our easy games. Wait until we come up against some decent opponents. At least we have a tactical master at the helm to guide us home!!!

  • TQ2Spurs says:

Starts on Tuesday and continues next Sunday DH! :- (

  • DoncasterHotspur says:

Leicester look a well coached team. Defending in numbers but a massive threat on the counter attack. Shame we don’t have such a creative manager

    • TQ2Spurs says:

To be fair DH, isn’t that how we set up against Soton?

    • PompeyYid says:

DH, you say Leicester looks a well drilled side, defending in numbers but a massive threat on the break, shame we don’t have such a creative manager, um excuse me but when we play like that you and others criticize JM for doing that and mutter we want entertainment, sounds very !!!, you decide. COYS

  • TQ2Spurs says:

Alanspurs…..some of us were already veterans by 1978! 🙂

    • Danny Winter says:

Some of us hadn’t been thought of by then! lol Just noticed Geof’s piece appear, so I’ll hold off the new match thread until tomorrow morning so that gets a good airing.

  • TQ2Spurs says:

Leiceter currently showing what a tactically astute manager can do…….4-1 up at the Etihad after 75 minutes!

  • TQ2Spurs says:

5-1 now…….3 penalties and not one of them for handball! lol
