Match Thread – Easy Spurs Win Or It Should Be

|

Having failed to hold on for a point in the weekends trip up to Old Trafford to face Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur have another quick turnaround in the fixture list as we make the trip to Brighton and Hove Albion on Wednesday evening.

Having unfortunately failed to make it three wins on the spin for Antonio Conte, our gaffer will be hoping we get back to winning ways against Graham Potter’s plucky side but the form table is certainly in our favour here with the Seagulls suffering five straight defeats in their recent matches and added to that, across those five games they’ve only scored once, with them conceding eleven.

If our front line have their shooting boots on here we could potentially significantly improve our goal difference as we head towards the end of the current campaign and we could still make our two games in hand really count when it comes to the chase for a European slot.

Or, of course, it could all go horrifically wrong – it is Spurs after all.

Brighton

Win

Draw

Lose

German striker Jurgen Klinsmann spent two years at White Hart Lane in separate spells, but how many league goals did he contribute?

So it’s come to this: The UK government has had to beg Chelsea supporters to stop chanting in support of the criminal oligarch Abramovich. God help us one and all should THFC supportes stoop to something like this. The price to pay to win those cups and titles for Chelsea surely wasn’t worth it.

Someone asked on this site recently what is the reason to exist for THFC. The answer is clear–to play football the right way. Not to play ugly to win. Not to cheat to win.

Winning wasn’t worth it for Chelsea, any more that was success for Dr. Faustus. One should not sell one’s soul to win some titles and cups, no matter what.

Beware ye who prize winning above decency. Let us hope that this disease does not infect the supporters of our club. Danny Blanchflower was right: It matters how one wins, not simply that one wins. Cheating is not glorious. Ignominy is not glorious.

There are no “EASY” games in the EPL. Tell me who has it “easy” ?

  • TK says:

    Arky,

Who has it easy are the rich owners who are taking the money from the supporters and trick us into thinking that they care about the team or the supporters. The only owners who care about the team are supporters whose trust owns the team.

  • PompeyYid says:

Its easy for me F**k Chav fans who sing for their Gangsta Owner, are all just a bunch of F**k wits simple as that, oh add brain dead morons.

Word has it that an Arab with wealth that makes MC’s and Newcastle’s non entity, is understood to be interested in the Chavs.

Now we have a game tomorrow, Seagulls v Cockerels, pecking order here!

Will we win, I most definately think/know so lol! COYS

If Chelsea supporters had any sense of pride they would be ashamed to cheer these days for Abramowich. Yet a bloody Tory government had to plead with them not to do so. Disgust piles up higher and higher. Shameful.

I’ve never felt shame being a Spurs supporter, and I hope to the gods I never will have to. Frustrated with ENIC, yes, but I’ve never seen the likes of supporters for my club cheering for a shameful oligarch gangster.

Anyone paying attention knew that his money was super dirty. How can you cheer for that? I’d rather be in mid table year after year than cheer for a gangster associated with murder or slavery as have some owners around the PL have been. May ii never happen to us.

Shame on the Chelsea supporters who continue to cheer this lout. Pontius Pilot had clearner hands even before he washed them.

  • TK says:

Tony Bloom and Starlizard look okay in comparison, no?

  • 123spurs says:

Brighton lost their last 5 games only 1 goal scored. Will we be nice again and gift them something.

  • Niall D says:

Hi folks thanks for the kind support in the last thread.
Wife caught it at the dentist then kindly gave it to me.
Re Chelsea, I hate the, acceptance from many of their long term supporters of this man who was their banker, Chelsea were little more than a West ham or Fulham with a slightly better address.
In fact I had a lot of respect for them and their supporters over the 70s and 80s, particularly when nearly everyone over here supports Man U or Liverpool.
Chelsea and average at this time springs to mind, but as has been said they were prepared to sell their collective souls for success.
Just like Man C and indeed N/Castle it saddens me that this is, what they are prepared to door accept just to win.
If we look at history Chelsea bought players, just to stop em going to other clubs and (IMO) in doing this destroyed more than one promising career, they are and have been in reality in a false position, supported by not just dirty, but filthy disgusting money.
They should actually hang their collective heads as supporters and indeed any trophies or medals during this time should be rescinded, though this would never happen, they are by any other name cheats.
    Re Brighton
We have beaten before and can do it again, are they like Leeds a one trick pony?
Is Potter now a busted flush happy at top ten, just a bit too comfortable.
Will the roller coaster ride start again and our forwards fail or our defenders make a few Ricky’s
If our consistent inconsistency is still going we’re due a win.
Like it or not we have put quite a few goals in the old onion lately.
    COYS.

  • TQ2Spurs says:

Bad news for the players…….looks like rain around match time so expect another Burnley type performance.

  • PompeyYid says:

Well last 7 games LWLWLWL so as Niall said Consistently Inconsistent Spurs = a W. lol! so that’s a maybe.

Now the Seagulls have lost their last 5 games, think that’s correct, so there is a record for Spurs Charity Club to donate to lol!

Now add wet rainy weather conditions as TQ has highlighted, think the answer here is, we are effed!

Nah! not avin it going for my usual optimistic result a WIN! there! I have said it lol! COYS

  • DoncasterHotspur says:

Ah – Cristiano, I see you haven’t scored in a while. Not to worry, Doctor Tottenham will see you now. Brighton & Hove Albion, I see you have lost your last five games. Not to worry, Doctor Tottenham will see you now.
I wonder what is going to happen tonight. I think I can guess.

    • PompeyYid says:

Both of us are like minded there, you Doctor Tottenham, me Spurs Charity Club lol!

My parade will not get rained on, we are going to win, come rain or shine lol! COYS

  • Allan says:

We have been forever thus certainly in the recent past .
However , according to my radar forecast the rain ought to have finished by 19 00 hours . Unfortunately it is still likely to be windy so a further complication for the team ! Don’t hold out much hope but I hope to be watching and as usual wait to be pleasantly surprised.

    • TQ2Spurs says:

Could be struggling to find a streram for this one, commentary on Talksport apparently, not sure if that’s 1 or 2.

  • 123spurs says:

Set pieces are killing us, we are very poor at both ends. This is where the fighters will how up. Also I hope wonks is nowhere to be seen, as I don’t get what conte sees in him.

  • wentworth says:

    Same team as expected.
Sadly, same ramshackle of nohopers on the bench. Will Scarlett get more than 90 seconds?
Will White get even 30 seconds?
Or will it be the usual 20 minutes of watching Winks and Bergweijn faffing around running the clock down when we are losing?

  • wentworth says:

Well,it was three points but oh, so boring. Two very average teams one with a striker, one with no strikers.
At least, we did not have to suffer Winks.
We are so slow at building play.
Both teams played the possession game but got no where. Terribly boring but it was 3 points.

  • Spurfect One says:

I probably sound like a broken record, but this system is in serious need of wingback upgrades.
