“Many Big Clubs Are Buzzing Around Him” – Ajax Confirm Reported Spurs Target Will Be Sold

One of the players to stand out to Tottenham Hotspur fans during our Champions League Semi-Final doubleheader with Ajax was Hakim Ziyech.

The summer transfer window rumour mill has long linked the 26-year-old attacking and versatile midfielder with Spurs, and those reports – albeit vague – were certainly bolstered by his performances against us recently.

Ajax boss Marc Overmar’s was recently interviewed by De Telegraaf talking about his future at the club, and he confirmed that he would be leaving this summer as promises had been made to the player at the beginning of the year, and they weren’t going to break those promises.

“He is in focus because of his achievements in the Champions League. Many big clubs are buzzing around him. We promised Hakim that we would agree if there is a good transfer.”

The Moroccan international has certainly had a fine season in the Erdivisie, contributing 16 goals and 13 assists in 29 league matches for the Dutch giants, so his stock in certainly high but with his departure confirmed we’ll soon find out if the speculation linking manager Mauricio Pochettino as having an interest in him proves to be true.

With a claimed £25million release fee included in his deal that shouldn’t put us off for a start as the battle with other clubs would be over personal terms.
