It’s A No From This Spurs Fan To Speculation – “He Can Be Frustratingly Inconsistent”

Well, we might have been interested to take a gamble when we bid a reported £13million a few years back, but why on earth would we still be interested each time they have increased the price, never mind the reported £80million now being asked.

He is not as consistent in either goals or assists as Son Heung-Min, Christian Eriksen and Dele Alli. Lucas Moura is also starting to look like he will be consistently better than Wilfried Zaha, now he has adjusted to the Premier League, and he has matched Zaha’s goals and assists this season, so he’d be primarily a bench player.

Given he’ll be 27 at the end of the year and has already struggled at a big club, buying him for any large fee would be a huge gamble and not one Spurs will make and it’s difficult to see what big club would pay big money for him now.

He is probably far better off where he is now where he can be one of the main players, he has moments where he can make his pace and skill count but that’s playing for a club that tends not to have teams defending deep against them and where he will get more time and space. Even then, he can be frustratingly inconsistent.

As for Spurs, that option sounds a complete non-runner to me.
