The BBC Have An Interesting Eriksen Twist & These Spurs Fans Would Welcome It

|

With ongoing and lengthy speculation about the future of Tottenham Hotspur star Christian Eriksen, a recent BBC report hinted at a novel contract approach that could suit all parties and see him extend his deal this summer.

With the rumour mill remaining in high gear when it comes to the Danish international with endless links to Spanish giants Real Madrid and Barcelona given his contract expires next summer, we’ve had everything from straight sales this summer to potential loan swaps involving former players Gareth Bale and Luka Modric.

The BBC suggested recently however, that agreement could be made on a contract that did include a release clause, but only applied to either of the Spanish sides.

“Meanwhile, there is a very good chance Christian Eriksen will be sold this summer. With the Dane seemingly unwilling to extend his contract, Spurs will want to avoid losing him on a free transfer next year. There is a slight possibility that he could pen a new deal, with a clause inserted that would allow him to join a leading club like Real Madrid or Barcelona if they made an approach.”

It could be the middle ground required if Eriksen has had his head turned to either of those sides, whilst also protecting our back from any other clubs looking to gain an advantage given his contract situation.

Fans reacting to the claim certainly seemed to like it as despite the speculation, there have been no firm bids reported.
