“It’s Over” – Mourinho Favourite Opens Up On Future With Spurs Switch Potentially On The Cards

|

Following the arrival of new manager Jose Mourinho as Mauricio Pochettino’s replacement in Tottenham Hotspur’s dugout, one big piece of transfer speculation on the rumour mill has been Chelsea’s Willian.

With the player earlier rejecting a two year contract at Stamford Bridge as he looked for a three year deal, it has long looked likely that the 31-year-old Brazilian would be moving on at the end of the 2019/20 campaign. With football suspended at the moment, he spoke to Fox Sports recently and admitted that his time at the club was over and naturally, that will only heighten the speculation linking him with a switch to us and a reunion with Mourinho.

As A Freebie, Would Willian Be A Good Addition?

Why Not?

No, Past His Best

“With Chelsea, it’s over. Everyone knows my contract is up in a few months and it looks like it’ll be difficult to secure an extension. I think it’s unlikely that I’ll renew because Chelsea offered me a two-year deal, I asked for three and it ended there.”

There certainly seems to be a mixed reaction to the idea of Willian making the move across London, but his quality is there for all to see. Overall I think it would be a decent deal, if the finances are right on his contract, and he’d certainly bolster our attacking options, with solid experience.
