Since the suspension of the football fixture list a few weeks ago, there has been plenty of talk about how the 2019/20 campaign could be finished and when Premier League football might return – some may argue it seems a higher priority for clubs than coming to a sensible decision on playing staff/Executive wages and the issue of the likes of Tottenham Hotspur going cap in hand to the taxpayer to furlough normal staff.
This weekend was no different it seems as although the big meeting between the PL, players and the Professional Footballers’ Association took plenty of headlines, it seems another chat on Friday, saw a provisional agreement for behind closed doors games in June.
These games would be aired, possibly on a free to air basis, to encourage fans to not try and attend or gather in alternative ways.
Odds On The Season Restarting In June?
Bob Hope
No Hope
Not only does it seem bizarre on a timing front given everything else that is going on, but given the current climate about the sums in the top flight and the bubble that some in the game seem to live in, it’ll again come over as selfish, for their own gain and a complete misread of the current priorities.
And it has unsurprisingly backfired already.
They are living in a dream world

They are insane if they think this is realistic. Its crazy how disconnected the league seems to be from reality, their refusal to accept that the season isnt resuming anytime soon is appalling.

Like personally I would love to see tottenham play again, but it realistically shouldn’t happen. No one is above this virus

Idiots the lot of them, taking away the advantage of playing an home game in front of your fans, will make a mockery of the season

Money, money, money.

we should refuse to go games when it reopens for fans .

Fans would storm the grounds if they know they’re playing. All about money don’t care about people’s lives.

Football coming back is the most irrelevant thing atm..
— Shaun Lewis (@ShaunLewis17) April 5, 2020
they talk about integrity of the game. but playing games behind closed doors was normally deemed as a punishment. if fans are suppose to be the 12th man. the home advantage is gone meaning home and away fixtures over 38 games are not equal…. canel the season now til fans r back

Glad to see the lads in charge of the league putting profits ahead of the players and staff’s health👍🏾

This is absolutely stupid and is embarrassing- no respect for those ill and those that have lost their lives
