“It Can Happen To Anyone – He’s World Class” – Key Spurs Man Backed By Former Player

|

With Tottenham Hotspur skipper Hugo Lloris having such a mixed season between the sticks for Spurs this year, he’s been the subject of both glowing praise but also extreme criticism as the campaign of 2018/19 ticked by.

In more recent times it’s seemed the French World Cup winner is more back to his best after the wobbly spells we have seen, but the debate as to whether we should consider an alternative over the summer is obviously ongoing amongst some sections of the fanbase – whether that be an additional promotion and chance for Argentine Paulo Gazzaniga, or a fresh face at the club completely.

Speaking to beIN Sports France recently, former stopper Heurelho Gomes was full of praise for our skipper in terms of how he’s dealt with the low moments this year and he was also right to point out the importance of some of his saves this year, that get often overlooked.

“Hugo has some ups and downs, but it can happen to anyone – he’s a world-class goalkeeper, and the penalty kicked against City made the difference – without that stop it could have been different. He is a very good goalkeeper that I appreciate.”

Lloris’ supporters will clap and say ‘well said’, but equally Lloris’ knockers will highlight his errors and point to the kind of season we may have had, had they not occurred, but it’s a circular debate and Lloris definitely isn’t the only player at the club who has had a mixed season this year – goalkeeper errors will always more naturally standout and remain in the mind though.
