Injury discussion concerning Harry Kane is bound to concern further

|

We’re back in action later on this lunchtime as another home game this time sees us welcome Huddersfield to the New Lane.

The Lilywhites have started nicely at the new ground and, hopefully, another win will be on the way against the already relegated Terriers.

We are going to have to go about our business without Harry Kane, though, with the striker out with yet another ankle problem.

Certainly, it seems to be a recurring problem for the striker that is limiting him to game-time and, of course, goal-scoring opportunities.

It’s becoming a trend, too, and leading ankle specialist and surgeon Mark Davies has suggested that it might well be time for surgery to try and solve the problem once and for all.

As quoted by PA Sport via Four Four Two, he said:

“I would certainly talk to him about the what advantages of having surgery would have.

“If he wasn’t playing football and he wasn’t going over on it then I wouldn’t do anything about it but every time you turn your ankle you run the risk of lateral ligament damage in the ankle.”

And, naturally, this will concern.

Whilst the long-term might see Kane improve in terms of his ankle strength it also suggests that there is a weakness there now that will never be quite what it is.

Given his occupation there will always be a risk of recurrence and surgery might now be the best route – though that will surely rule him out for longer.

It’s a concern, that is for sure.
