Have Your Say: The Simple Truth At Spurs

|

Writer: Pez

As a Spurs fan, I have grown tired of the merry go round of speculation where endless players of genuine quality are linked with Tottenham but virtually none ever come to fruition.

So much in the way of opportunity has been missed thanks to Levy’s procrastination and miserly approach, and for me is the singular reason why Spurs are now regressing as a club. On the evidence of form and performance we are clearly no longer a nailed on top four premiership side and given the way we are currently playing I think we’ll be lucky just to stay in the top ten.

I think if we look back, it seems evident from his public comments that Pochettino was warning of this very scenario, but instead of heeding his comments and supporting this, Levy instead ultimately made him the scapegoat for Tottenham’s problems.

I have no issue with Jose per se but it is clear that he is no better equipped to resolve the clubs internal issues than his predecessor unless given the radical rebuild that Poch’ had long alluded was necessary, and with Dan Levy at the helm that seems way off being likely.

The simple truth is that with Levy running the show we are never going to be challenging properly for major honours because he just doesn’t do what is required to achieve that. Sadly the truth is that Tottenham had peaked some time back, the CL final was a false dawn which we were never close to achieving against a far superior Liverpool side who by contrast have reaped the rewards of their hardwork and overall philosophy by constantly improving and freshening their squad.

There is much to be done by Tottenham now particularly when so many other teams are aspiring with loftier ambitions, some arguably at this stage even a little more deserving, so whatever happens now I don’t recommend you hold your breath!
