First Win Of 2020 As Spurs Do Just Enough To Take The Points – Match Stats

Having picked up another point against Watford in a slightly more positive overall performance, yet far from perfect and far from the result we’d have wanted despite the improvement in the side following the arrival of Nigel Pearson, Tottenham Hotspur were back in action on Wednesday evening and we welcomed Norwich City to White Hart Lane.

Whether I’d missed something not being around much this week, I certainly wasn’t expecting to see Hugo Lloris return this quickly to the starting XI and after his midweek words, eagle-eyed fans will have seen manager Jose Mourinho omit Danny Rose once again, but Christian Eriksen was on the bench.

It was hardly a humdinger and shots on target were at a premium, we did, however, take the lead shortly before the half time break as Dele Alli opened the scoring and whilst we weren’t in a lot of trouble, Norwich had their leveller with 20 remaining as Teemu Pukki took his chance from 12 yards as Max Aarons was fouled by Ryan Sessegnon.

We pushed on though and got the winner via Sonny nine minutes later, and it was our first win of 2020 as well as ending our scoring drought in the league.

Back up to sixth but it wasn’t pretty and there’s plenty of improvements still to be made.
