Opinion: The one transfer Jose Mourinho simply has to complete after Tottenham’s midweek win

|

Tottenham may have been given a bit of a scare when they faced Norwich last night in the Premier League, but the Lilywhites came through the game, left the stadium with all three points and can be delighted that they’ve got their first league goals and league win of 2020.

However, if anything, as well as being a good game for Jose Mourinho and co to have as a benchmark to build upon, this is a game that showed everyone watching on just what needs to happen between now and the end of the January transfer window, as it’s clear who Daniel Levy has to sign.

Whilst links to full-backs and strikers have been coming in from all angles, the Lilywhites simply have to stop messing around and make their loan deal for Giovani Lo Celso a permanent transfer. The Argentine was faultless against the Canaries, and he was the main positive from a fairly average performance.

Not only is Lo Celso shaping up to be the creative force to help the club replace Christian Eriksen, but he’s also showing an ability to win possession back and get physical, as he won the ball back for Dele Alli’s opener, and slipped a perfect reverse ball through for Alli in the build-up to Heung-Min Son’s winner.

Everything you need to hear about Lo Celso can be found in Alasdair Gold’s player ratings from Football.London. The midfielder was given a 9/10, the highest of any other Spurs player, for his efforts, and it only outlined the fact that Tottenham have to pay the money for this superstar.

Have We Seen Enough To Make Lo Celso's Deal Permanent?

Yes

No

We Shouldn't Decide Until The Summer

The Lilywhites may have only seen Lo Celso turn out for them on 19 occasions so far (Transfermarkt), but he can be signed permanently for just £27.3m this season (Football.London), and that is one piece of business that has to be done before anything else after last night.
