Explained: Tottenham may have to pay £35m and £1m in wages to sign Real Madrid man

According to El Desmarque, Tottenham are interested in Dani Ceballos and could battle Juventus and Arsenal for the 22-year-old. Real Madrid are reportedly willing to sell Ceballos this summer and could accept bids of around £35m for his signature.

The Spanish u21 international has made 34 appearances in all competitions, scoring and creating five goals. Ceballos has been handed only three starts in La Liga since mid-February, racking up a paltry 268 minutes of playing time in the last three month, and could move on to get more first-team football.

The 22-year-old earns £1.04m-a-year/£20k-per-week at the Santiago Bernabeu and joined Real from Real Betis in July 2017. He’s made a total of 56 appearances in all competitions over the last two years, contributing seven goals.

In La Liga this season, Ceballos has amassed 1248 minutes of football, scoring three goals, making 24 chances, 14 successful dribbles (44%), averaging 44 passes-per-game with 93% accuracy, winning nine aerial duels (33%), blocking 28 shots/crosses/passes and averaging a tackle (32) or interception (15) every 27 minutes.

Tottenham are expected to strengthen their midfield after Mousa Dembele’s departure in January, but whether they make an official approach for Ceballos remains to be seen.
