Mauricio Pochettino finally named Eric Dier in the starting eleven of a Premier League game and some supporters are delighted to see him back. Tottenham lock horns with Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday afternoon and are much-changed following their 7-2 defeat to Bayern Munich.
There’s no Danny Rose, Serge Aurier, Harry Winks or Dele Alli in the side. They’ve been replaced by Ben Davies, Moussa Sissoko, Dier and Christian Eriksen. Dier’s inclusion has led to the biggest reaction from fans on social media, however, as he’s spent the entire year on the periphery.
never thought I’d say this, but I couldn’t be happier to see Dier on the sheet#COYS #THFC https://t.co/1H2LEKrZDV

Great line up. Happy to see Dier back. Only thing I’m not to keen on is we’re risking upsetting a player (Alli) who wants to be with us. For a player that has no intention of having any future with us. As much as I love Eriksen. This keeps going could end up losing both. #THFC

The 25-year-old has hardly featured in 2019, making just eight Premier League appearances and amassing 400 minutes of football. Injuries decimated his playing time and kept him sidelined for a lot of last season, resulting in him being low down the pecking order this campaign.
Giovani Lo Celso, Tanguy Ndombele, Moussa Sissoko, Harry Winks and even Victor Wanyama have been preferred over Dier this season, but Pochettino has finally given the England international an opportunity to prove his worth. With Tottenham in such dire straits, it makes sense to give minutes to players fighting for a place, rather than to those who nearly left over the summer.
