Tottenham are seemingly continuing their hunt for reinforcements ahead of the summer window, with Angers’ Baptiste Santamaria reportedly catching the eye, according to the Express.
Leicester City and Everton have also registered an interest in the midfielder, who has been dubbed the next N’Golo Kante.
He certainly shares similarities with the Chelsea and France midfielder. Firstly, he is relatively unknown in England but like his compatriot he could make a big impact if he arrived in the Premier League.
Is targeting Baptiste Santamaria a good idea?
Yes
No
In addition, this season he has averaged 3.3 tackles and 1.5 interceptions per game, per WhoScored, and therefore the £8.1m-rated player could add some much-needed steel in the middle of the park, something we have lacked for most of the season.
That is evidenced by our early exits in the Champions League and the FA Cup, and is an area Jose Mourinho must address along with the defence if we are to improve.
Some supporters agree with that sentiment, but others are less confident that Santamaria is the man to provide that.
I'm in on this but hopefully he won't turn into another Tanguy lmao

Next Kante at 25? Don’t think so somehow

Would be a good signing but should only be a plan B for DM. Gotta get someone who’s best attribute is tackling not playmaking 🤷🏻♂️Camavinga at 17…5th most tackles in Europe. Surly a no brainier but will cost a lot more. https://t.co/kJaztIkRiN

Maybe harsh, but seems a lower tier buy and smacks of Stambouli.

Every CM that comes from France is dubbed the next Kante. Have a day off.

I’d take him

Who……? just another potential mediocre cheapskate Levy proposition that will end up being a TWoTaM!
