Bad news for Pochettino as Tottenham midfielder ‘remains sidelined’ ahead of Brighton clash

|

According to BBC Sport, Giovanio Lo Celso ‘remains sidelined’ ahead of Saturday’s meeting with Brighton & Hove Albion. The 23-year-old has been out of action with a hip injury since early-September, missing Tottenham’s last six games in all competitions.

Lo Celso was absent for Spurs’ 4-0 win over Crystal Palace (September 14), 2-2 draw with Olympiacos (September 18), 2-1 defeat to Leicester City (September 21), penalty-shootout defeat to Colchester United (September 24), 2-1 win over Southampton (September 28) and 7-2 defeat to Bayern Munich (October 1).

He’s made just three appearances since joining Spurs from Real Betis, playing for five minutes in a 2-2 draw with Manchester City (August 17), 28 minutes in a 1-0 defeat to Newcastle United (August 25) and 11 minutes in a 2-2 draw with Arsenal (September 1).

The Argentine international has racked up just 44 minutes of Premier League football in his debut season and isn’t expected to return until November. In his ongoing absence, Mauricio Pochettino could turn to Christian Eriksen or Dele Alli to provide creativity in midfield.

Tottenham need to bounce back after their heavy defeat in midweek. They face a Brighton side without a win in their last six games and will be favourites to pick up more three points.
