Official: Latest Giovani Lo Celso injury update

|

Tottenham have given an injury update on Giovani Lo Celso ahead of Saturday’s Premier League meeting with Crystal Palace, confirming the midfielder will be ‘unavailable’ to face the Eagles.

Lo Celso is still ‘undergoing rehab’ on a hip injury he picked up on international duty for Argentina and wasn’t initially meant to be out for the long-term. The midfielder’s return date is estimated as late-October/November, however.

The 23-year-old has made three appearances since joining Tottenham but hasn’t started a game for Mauricio Pochettino. Lo Celso has amassed only 44 minutes of playing time, so supporters have barely seen much of their summer signing.

In his absence, Spurs could look to Moussa Sissoko and Harry Winks at the heart of the midfield. Eric Dier isn’t fully fit while Victor Wanyama has been on the periphery this season, so the Lilywhites are down to the bare bones in the engine room.

Tottenham are favourites to beat Palace but can’t afford to drop more points after their poor start to the campaign – ninth in the table and winless in their last three games. A win on the weekend could see them return into the top-four, however.
