Bad day at the office for Dier and Reguilon – Player Ratings

|

This miserable run of form continues for Spurs as we surrendered the lead to our opposition once again and this time, were punished further as United ran away with all three points. Here are our player ratings:

GK: Hugo Lloris – 7

Couldn’t do too much about any of the goals, made a superb save from McTominay and from Cavani, only for Fred to pounce at the rebound with the defence asleep. Not at fault by any means.

LB: Sergio Reguilon – 4

A very poor day out for the Spaniard who was ripped apart by Fernandes for the second goal and Greenwood in the closing stages for the third goal. Offered little going forward and his crosses were not troubling at all.

CB: Eric Dier – 4

Not the way to convince your manager you deserve a regular starting spot in the team, as Dier was at fault for the first two goals as he lost track completely of Cavani and was bamboozled by the 34-year-old’s movement, before being out-muscled by Pogba for the third.

CB: Joe Rodon – 7

Another quietly solid performance which saw Rodon turn around a number of dangerous crosses, put in a few good tackles and got  into Cavani’s head a little at the end of the first half as the Uruguayan seemed to lose his cool.

RB: Serge Aurier – 5

A typical performance from Aurier where he was bombing up and down on the right flank, just without much end product or defensive stability. His throw-ins still have not improved.

CM: Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg – 6

This would be a seven from Hojbjerg if it wasn’t for letting Pogba get past him way too easily in the lead up in the third goal. He had lots of energy and put in a real good shift, but will be disappointed with how it ended.

CM: Tanguy Ndombele – 7

Perhaps the player Spurs fans should be worried about leaving the most apart from Kane at the end of the season. Ndombele demonstrated plenty of skill to win free-kicks, get players booked and drive the team forward.

CAM: Giovani Lo Celso – 5

Another ‘lost’ performance from Lo Celso who still seems like he is regaining match sharpness following his injury. Most Spurs fans love him, and we have no doubt he will get back to his old self, but his passing accuracy and chance creation needs to improve.

LW: Heung-min Son – 6

Apart from the two major incidents in the first half when he went down because of McTominay’s hand as VAR ruled out Cavani’s opener, and scoring just before half-time, Son had very little to do in the game and looked a little tired and unconfident.

RW: Lucas Moura – 7

Probably the best performance from a Spurs attacker was Lucas, who made a number of darting runs to drive the team forward and showed tremendous awareness and unselfishness to lay the ball across goal for Son to tap-in for our goal.

ST: Harry Kane – 6

Hopefully the news that has come out this week isn’t going to affect Kane’s performances on the pitch, but yesterday he just looked a bit sluggish and isolated. A few good touches and shots, but not really much to say.

Substitutes: Moussa Sissoko – 5, Erik Lamela – 5, Gareth Bale – N/A

None of the substitutes really had an impact, although Sissoko almost had the opportunity to equalise as Pogba’s header from a corner almost fell into the path of the Spurs midfielder, but Cavani got there in the nick of time to steer the ball with his head onto the post and away.
