According to a report from Todofichajes, Spurs have opened talks to sign Atletico Madrid defender Stefan Savic in the summer – with the club and his agent apparently on speaking terms.
Savic, who has started 14 La Liga games for Atletico over 2019/2020, is said to be looking for a way out of the Wanda Metropolitano following no guarantee of real playing time next season.
The 29-year-old, currently valued at around £22.95 million by Transfermarkt, has played at the highest level over this last decade – but his WhoScored stats when compared to defender Jan Vertonghen could highlight why Spurs supporters don’t see him as the ideal successor.
Would Savic be a good Vertonghen replacement?
Yes, get him in
No, far better options
Indeed, Savic makes less tackles and interceptions on average than the Belgian, all the while failing to match his offsides won per game record.
As a result, many Spurs fans have flocked to rubbish a potential move – find all of their best comments from Twitter down below.
