Antonio Conte set to LEAVE Spurs at the end of the season

|

Spurs fans have yet again been hit with another hammer blow this morning as reports out of Italy are stating Tottenham boss Antonio Conte will not renew his contract at Spurs – with his current deal set to expire this summer.

That is according to Gianluca Di Marzio who has stated that he is certain Conte will leave come the summer. The Italian journalist has also stated that the club haven’t actually offered Conte a contract renewal:

“The club does not like the frequent jibes. Conte wants players to win, while the club prefers to trade, the feeling with the club has not clicked. His family, among other things, has remained in Italy.”

Conte joined the Lilywhites in November of 2021, taking the club from 8th place to an unexpected top-four finish – pipping North London rivals Arsenal to a Champions League spot.

More recently however Conte and his side have struggled, only winning three of their last nine games with the Spurs boss stating he needs more backing if his side is to succeed.

That is seemingly where the problem lies as the board looks as if they are not going to back the Italian in the transfer market, which was one of Conte’s demands during contract talks (read here).

So, where does this leave Spurs?

If it is certain that Conte will not stay on as manager, surely it would be best to part ways now and start building for the future rather than spending another five months with a manager who clearly does not want to be on the Spurs sidelines.

When does this club wake up to the fact that the problem isn’t the manager but the way it is being run by the board. If a top manager like Conte who has enjoyed success at every other club he has been at but Spurs, and the fact that Tottenham have had similar such problems with other managerial personnel for a number of years now what does that suggest? Pochettino told us the problems and Levy and Enic did not listen, and they still refuse to change, that is the root of the problem. Spurs desperately need new ownership/control with a better philosophy to change this clubs footballing fortunes else there is nothing but frustration and suffering ahead for fans who far much better
